I installed your prog on win xp, ran the shortcuts script, and all I get is the normal gimp interface. Any suggestions?

I don't think there is one planned for 2.2.9 there is, however, an alpha version of GIMPShop based on GIMP 2.3.4 available.

The next version of GIMPShop will likely be based on the next minor release of GIMP, not the next micro release.

A Major release is like the first number, from 1.x to 2.x is a major release.

A Minor release is the second number, from 2.0 to 2.1 is a Minor release.

A Micro release is the third number, from 2.2.8 to 2.2.9 is a micro release.

When GIMP goes from 2.2.x to 2.3.x (or 2.4.x) that's when I would expect the next release of GIMPShop.

Of course, since GIMPShop is open source, if you know how to code, or know someone who does, you could release the next version of GIMPShop whenever you'd like! :-)

Just amazing software .. i have always used GIMP on linux and Photoshop on Windows and now I have this seamless software .. good ..

It is pretty cool, right? It makes life so much easier when your switching like that. At work I've got a copy of Photoshop, and, since it was free, and I'm the network admin, I installed GIMPShop as well. I find myself using GIMPShop because it's just easier! GIMPShop rocks!

Hi Egor,

GIMP 2.3 is still in the development stage. It's not ready for production use on any operating system. In fact, I don't think there will be a stable 2.3 release. From what I've read, when it's stable, they will release it as 2.4 (that's why there's a 2.3.7 and it's still in beta).

With Scott (the creator of GIMPShop) just getting a new Intel Mac, I'm sure he will soon be releasing a new version of GIMPShop for the Mac. It will probably still be based on GIMP 2.2 - since that's the stable release. When 2.4 comes out, it will likely be ported to Mac, and then made into GIMPShop.

I am trying to do the simplest thing that can be done with Photoshop but I've spent hours trying to do the same with Gimpshop and am very frustrated with it. I need to put a different colored text outline around text on top of a photograph. There seems to be many filter options of little or no value but this filter option, easily found in Photoshop, appears to be missing. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hello there. Just installed GimpShop 2.2.8 on Win XP and tested it for about 20 minutes. Nice piece of work I must say, as Photoshop was the only reason I did't migrate on Linux yet... but now I'm looking forward to migrate (yes definitly!) after my vacation in september. Cheers & thnx.

P.S. Is there any chance that GimpShop is going to support CMYK image mode any son?

There is a sub-project for The GIMP called GEGL (check Wipedia or http://www.gegl.org/) to ovewrhaul the core to add a lot of missing fatures like colour management and support for various colour spaces like Lab, HSB, and CMYK. It was supposed to have been done by now, but it's proved harder to do than anticipated. A project to examine usability and hence overhaul the interface is also in the works, and slated for integraion after 2.4 is released early next year.

Some people seem to fail to realize the BIG difference is cost. When your in your safe little Windows World... (and when I say safe I mean well it can be safe... some times for months on end) you seem to be so used to dumping out cash for everything that you do not realize that GimpShop is FREE. Yes it may not have every plugin. And in truth plugins are for lazy so in so's that want to make a cool header for their blog site.
So anyways. Cool app and keep working guys.

Neat program, just one question so far, I can't find anyplace to enter a caption and IPTC info into the photos. Is there an option and can you tell me how to get to it.

GIMPshop crashes whenever I try to stroke a path. Also I keep getting theese wierd disc errors when I start it and when I save. It says "Please insert disk into drive ." without saying what drive it is. These errors don't seem to affect anything however.

Hi there, thank you very much for GIMPSHOP. i have been held captive by Adobe for long enough. The GIMP for windows provides the ability to modify my RAW/NEF Fuji and Nkon files, does GIMPSHOP provide a raw converter?

I tried to install gimpshop on macosx 10,4 but it does not work. When I click on the dmg file, a program called hexedit opens it and that'it. What am I doing wrong?

I installed GIMPshop and it finally stopped hanging on the 'font' thing when loading, but now when I try to use it and open a new page/file/whatever they're called (I'm hardly experienced with Photoshop), it crashes on me and has to close.

Hey guy, what I do in order to keep it from crashing is open an existing photo, use the paint fill option AFTER I resize the image, and it works just fine. It only crashes when you open a new image. That's just my work-a-round until they get a fix for the new image option.

Really wish there was some kind of support forum for the Windows version of this program. I am getting constant "Entry Point Not Found" errors and was hoping to try it. Oh well, guess I'll have to uninstall since it's not working.

This seems like a very useful graphics editing tool. I am familiar with Photoshop, I have used it in the past. However, I don't want to go pay for the new version as I don't use it that often.

I know this has probably already been asked or mentioned in the help sections: Can you import or use .psd files with this product? or is the look only to give you a feel that you are working with Photoshop?

Anyway... I am about to download. Look forward to seeing how it works. Thanks!
